Star Slouchy Hat

So I was making a ton of stars for my daughter and her friends (just tiny stuffed stars with googly eyes) when this idea hit me. Wouldn't it be cool to have a hat with a star in the middle? I made a rainbow one but I didn't like how it turned out (I did the color scheme wrong) so I made this one to match my Browncoat hoodie, hehe I love Joss Whedon, anyways I liked how it turned out. I have the pattern available for $3.00 in My Etsy Shop if anyone is interested :)

sorry about the bad pics. It is really hard to get a good pic in the bathroom mirror. This is like the 20th pic and one of the only ones that wasn't blurry :-\

  3. That is SO pretty! I just found your Bella hat on Craftster and planned on linking to it today. Then I dug around in the Crochet forum a bit more and found this hat. I love your patterns! I'll be linking to them on Craftser but I'd love to link directly to your blog if you didn't mind. Your siggy totally caught my eye. =)

  4. I love this hat and wanted to make one for my daughter for Christmas but I am having problems following the instructions. I end up with a 6-pointed lop-sided star. HELP!!!
I increased the hook size as I tend to crochet too tightly but things aren't working like they should. Any ideas would be appreciated.

  7. could you advise me how to download the free patterns as all I get is the first two pages - also, I have been unable to find you on etsy - thank you

  8. I have no idea how you can download them. Just highlight the text and post it into notepad or some writing program and then save it or print it. Whatever you want. My etsy shop link is http://AprilDraven.etsy.com you can also click on the picture of me on my main page and it will take you to my shop.

  9. am i missing something, i do not see what kind of yarn, looks like regular 4ply??? Sorry if it is there, eyesight going bad, but i still do not see it.
Will be happy to buy something from your etsy shop after xmas, i am on a very low disabilty income, but i am thankful for the patterns you share. I will do something. Maybe buy a simple boy/girl layette set pattern or something like that????

  10. Donna: Yep it is regular 4 ply. Don't feel obligated to help. That is one of the reasons I put the patterns up for free. If you can't afford it you can't afford it. Some people can and are generous enough to help out but I am well aware that most of the people that come here are just like me. Just trying to get by. Thank you for your kind thoughts. It means a lot :)

  11. I just made this hat, and I loved how it turned out. I have plenty of the same yarn left over so I am making two more for my "sisters" whose mom has taken me in as her own. =] Thanks so much for this pattern!

  14. Hello! Love this hat! I am trying my best (I'm a bit of a beginner :) ) but the star is giving me a bit of trouble. I'm not getting a star really. I think I may be doing something wrong with the slip stitches. Any tips would be awesome.

  16. Can you please take all your links down from the free pattern sites since clearly they are no longer free, every slouch beanie pattern I click on and that goes to your site i waste my time looking at the pictures of the hats and getting excited to make them and then at the bottom of the page it says pay me three bucks. please remove your links to the ones that are no longer free

    ReplyDelete
  17. Woah_Melly: I can't remove the posts from the free sites because I wasn't the one who posted it there in the first place. I removed the links from the sites I personally posted on. Next time before you start getting angry at someone please get your information straight. I don't appreciate your attitude. There is nothing I can do about your problem since none of these places asked my permission to post links in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Nobodys giving you an attitude, clearly you took it the wrong way. And your on MULTIPLE free pattern websites, maybe for the sake of other people you could put NOT FREE in the title of your patterns or something, just a suggestion...

    ReplyDelete
  19. Was sitting here thinking about it, and seriously I didnt mean to come off as having an attitude, but whether you put your link on the free pattern websites or not your link is still on these sites and "us" (rest of the world) is getting directed to your blog, so please consider my suggestion of putting for sale in your pattern title or something. Cause your hats are pretty awesome, and its a serious disappointment to scroll through 6 pics of a hat and get all excited and get to the bottom and it has to be purchased.

  20. I removed *Free Pattern* in the title of EVERY post I ever posted the moment they stopped being free. It took a long time too, 3 days. I had people steal my patterns so I had to take them down and start charging. It isn't fair for someone else to make money off of my patterns and not me. The patterns used to be free but they are no longer.I tried to make them really cheap. I am only making about $1 off of every pattern after all of the fees I have to pay. I did go through and remove any mention of it being free but clearly it is still showing up. I'm sorry but that is out of my hands. There is nothing I can do about that. If it bothers you so much, contact the site and complain to them. I am the wrong person to take this to. What I think might be happening is since I still do offer free patterns, my site is showing up in the search. That is out of my hands as well. You are asking me to do something that I have already done. These Free Pattern sites never asked my permission so there is no way I can hunt them all down. I really didn't think it would cause so much trouble. I am just one person making not even enough for a part time job and more and more stuff keeps coming up. I don't get paid enough for everything I have had to deal with lately. This was just supposed to be something fun to do. Don't think I mean just you because I don't. I have been constantly been running into problems ever since I caught those people stealing from me. It feels like I am being punished.

Anyways I digress, Here are the patterns I have that are free. Out of curiosity what pattern was it that you wanted so badly? If it was one I offered for free give me your e-mail and I will send you one. I gave everyone a few days to copy my patterns before I took them down. There were still people in the middle of the pattern when I took them down so I just e-mailed them the pattern. I will just put you in that category.

  21. Dont worry about it, whenever I get some spare funds in the future I'll buy it from your etsy site. I get why you took them down, in your shoes I would have done the same thing, Sorry if I took my frustration out on you. Im just frustrated with the fact that theres SO many things on the planet now that say theyre free and then have hidden fees and stuff, so I just got annoyed that someone would have links for free patterns that werent free, its like a tease ya know, but I get that its not your fault that your patterns are linked to alot of sites. and yeah I saw your other patterns that are still free, unfortunately the only thing I crochet the normal way is slouchy beanies, anything else I do is in the form of amigurumi, but thanks anyways =]

  22. Oh yeah! and I saw your breast cancer awareness slouch hat, if you ever make an autism one with a puzzle piece please let me know, Id buy that pattern, and itd probably be a good one to sell for like 10 bucks and put half towards a charity and i bet alot of people would buy it cause theres not alot of autism stuff out there nowadays. just a thought, so if you do it please lemme know!

  23. The Autism pattern is a great idea. I have a few friends with Autistic children. If I make it I will post it for free, that way other people can hopefully make the hats and raise some funds and awareness :)

  26. I have a question. I found this star slouchy hat pattern and have been looking for something like this for a while and like a few others, was sad when I saw it cost money. I know it's only $3 but I don't really have that right now. I really don't want to go through and find another pattern because yours is so pretty. I was wondering if there was any way to use the pattern without paying. I know that's a lot to ask but I promise not to save the pattern or sell anything I make or anything. And you're patterns are so beautiful I will definitely make a purchase in the future but right now I just can't do it. Don't feel sorry if you tell me no, I'm not expecting anything, just hoping. Thank you in advance for your reply. :)
