Queen of Hearts Slouchy Hat

Ok so it really isn't Queen of hearts, but that is what inspired me. I was playing around with the Star Slouchy hat and decided to make a heart.

I have the pattern available for $3.00 in My Etsy Shop if anyone is interested.

  1. I love this - loved the one with the star also. I've copied the patterns so I can print them out when I get some ink.

  7. April,
I love your slouchy hats, but am having some trouble. Could be how I'm reading it :) please help.

I have 26 stitches around the heart. The first round of the white doessn't seem to have enough stitches. Do you count the joining ss? Even if you do, I end up 2 stitches short.

On round 2, I get that you put the first dc in the same stitch as the chain 2. Do you want another dc there also? And of course this row is off number wise too.

I'd appreciate any help with this.
I really want to make it for work. I do home care phlebotomy, and in bad weather it's the pits!

    Thanks,
    Joyannerose

  8. I had 26 when I went around but when I did the second round I only had 24 too. When I make a pattern I rarely count. I have my pattern testers count for me. I will have to make another one myself in the future and count everything. I plan on making a hat for my mother in law soon so hopefully I can get that count right soon.

  9. Hi!
I adore your blog site...it's so hard to find crochet patterns that are not old-farty! =) I was ecstatic when browsing through here and bookmarking, like...everything!! haha

I Have quick Q bout the measure---the gauge in partic. cause I'm trying to use lionbrand moonlit mohair and the fisherman's wool....Do you mean 8 rows DOUBLE CROCHET or Single??? I also find that I need a K hook to obtain 4 inches with the wool, seems like a giant dif. in hook size...I just don't wanna screw it up... so if you have any imput...

    Thanks!!

  10. 4 inches = 12 stitches and 8 rows

That would be dc 12 stitches
then it would be 8 rows high

if it was a 4 inch by 4 inch square that would be the measurement.

I hope this helps. If it doesn't let me know and I will find another way of explaining. You might just crochet really tight or I crochet really loose lol.

  11. I made my niece the star slouchy hat and she took it off her head to give to the Marines who were collecting gifts for kids at the Thanksgiving parade. She said she knew it would be ok since her aunt is a hat maker...lol. I replaced that hat with this one. Here's the pic though you can't see the heart.
