After making the purple slouch hat I wanted to make another one, but I wanted this one to be warm because it's cold in Michigan right now.
I have this pattern available for $3.00 in My Etsy Shop if anyone is interested.
and here is what it looks like if you just want a plain winter hat
What do you think?
thanks April, this is cute.
ReplyDeleteOk grabbed my yarn, gonna do this in Red Hearts Dark Sage :)
ReplyDeleteApril this is the first time Iv done this stitch, I really love it :) thanks for sharing it, when I am done I will show you :)
ReplyDeleteoooh I love Dark Sage. I think I will make my next hat that color :) I'm glad you learned a new stitch. I love FPdc and Bpdc. I use it a lot in the trim of most of my hats. I would have to say it is my favorite special stitch :)
ReplyDeleteIv used it once before but awhile back, this is a real easy hat to make :)
ReplyDeleteI thought going into it man I dont know if I can do this .
LOL whats funny is I cant do a simple Granny square rofl
Ok I admit I am stuck. Iv ripped this out a couple times.
ReplyDeleteOk on Rnd 4:
(ch 2, *(1 fpdc, 1 bpdc) do what is in parenthesis around same stitch, 1 fpdc, 1 bpdc* rep from * to * around (48) join with 1 ss)
Ok 1 fpdc, 1 bpdc in first stitch
ok here is where I am stuck.
1 fpdc in next stitch ,
then in next stitch do the bpdc?
yep that sounds right to me If you still don't get it send me a pic I might be able to catch the problem by looking at it
ReplyDeleteok, thanks April :)
ReplyDeleteLet me know if you get confused again. I will find a way to help :)
ReplyDeleteCute and cozy, I love it! I'll be linking.
ReplyDeletehello there!
ReplyDeleteI stumbled on this through craftster and thought I'd give it ago.
for some reason I can not get the number of stitches to match yours (i've been doing this for hours).
round three and everything is fine but at the end of the fourth I end up with 44.
The only way I can get it to 48 is if I increase on every other stitch rather than first stitch out of every three. so like (fpdc, bpdc) fpdc then (fpdc, bpdc) bpdc.
I have no idea where I am going wrong =( xoxo
I am getting the same problem with ending up with 44? on fourth round?

Abby I got that exact way you did
ReplyDeleteAbby & Neicee: Put it aside for now. I Have company right now but later tonight/early tomorrow I will post pics of each step to help out:)
ReplyDeleteRenee: I can't see very well with the pic so just set it aside and I will post a clear tutorial either tonight or tomorrow. I have company right now.
Ok thanks april, I can e-mail the pics to you if you want
ReplyDeleteThere is also a good possibility I counted wrong so I will find out when I do it again and take pics.
ReplyDeleteOH Thanks! I am so excited but the first few rows I need clarification on it. I just decided to add in the stitches that I missed to make it equal what pattern says and its just not right the ridges are not even. I am fb around bp and bp around fp making it look funky. Thanks D
ReplyDeleteok I had a MAJOR error. I just corrected it. there is an extra (1 fpdc, 1 bpdc). That should fix it.
ReplyDeletesorry everyone :(
wooohoo Gonna start over :) Thanks for the help April
ReplyDeleteit is in rnd 4 and 5 so you shouldn't have to undo all of it
ReplyDeleterofl too late lol
ReplyDeleteApril HELP I am stuc on row 3 I get 23 , Can you do to step 3 for me in a white so I can see where Im messing up at :(
ReplyDeletedo 1 fpdc and one bpdc around every stitch.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow I will post instructions for rnds 1-5.
Thank you April, I shall give it ago right now! xoxo

April, love ur patterns. U have another winner here.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad everything works out now :) Thanks Everyone! Sorry I didn't reply sooner. For some reason some of my updates got sent to my spam folder. I am going to have to keep an eye out for that in the future.
ReplyDeletehow many rows did you add on to have the slouch effect?
ReplyDeleteKaneesha: I don't understand your question. I posted the pattern.
ReplyDeleteim sorry for the confusion: if you exclude the "Note" after Round 5 will you end up with the slouch hat? If not, how many rows of the Note pattern do you need? I really hope this makes since now. Thanks
ReplyDeleteif you skip the note you will still end up with the slouch hat. The note just makes it bigger around. :)
ReplyDeletei'd use the note if i wanted more hat. got it. thanks :))
ReplyDeleteyep ;) Glad you got it now :)Have fun.
ReplyDeletewhat do you mean by 'TRIM'?
ReplyDeleteTrim is just to tell you that the next part is the Trim of the hat, The Band.
ReplyDeleteHi April,
ReplyDeleteI saw this hat in Etsy, too bad the pattern is for sale. :(. Is it okay for you if I made one based on this hat? (As of now, I can't afford to buy the pattern.). You are a very good designer. Hope to hear from you soon.
