Winter Slouch Hat

After making the purple slouch hat I wanted to make another one, but I wanted this one to be warm because it's cold in Michigan right now.
I have this pattern available for $3.00 in My Etsy Shop if anyone is interested.

and here is what it looks like if you just want a plain winter hat

What do you think?

  4. oooh I love Dark Sage. I think I will make my next hat that color :) I'm glad you learned a new stitch. I love FPdc and Bpdc. I use it a lot in the trim of most of my hats. I would have to say it is my favorite special stitch :)

  6. Ok I admit I am stuck. Iv ripped this out a couple times.
    Ok on Rnd 4:
(ch 2, *(1 fpdc, 1 bpdc) do what is in parenthesis around same stitch, 1 fpdc, 1 bpdc* rep from * to * around (48) join with 1 ss)
Ok 1 fpdc, 1 bpdc in first stitch
ok here is where I am stuck.
1 fpdc in next stitch ,
then in next stitch do the bpdc?

  10. hello there!
I stumbled on this through craftster and thought I'd give it ago.
for some reason I can not get the number of stitches to match yours (i've been doing this for hours).
round three and everything is fine but at the end of the fourth I end up with 44.
The only way I can get it to 48 is if I increase on every other stitch rather than first stitch out of every three. so like (fpdc, bpdc) fpdc then (fpdc, bpdc) bpdc.
I have no idea where I am going wrong =( xoxo

  18. OH Thanks! I am so excited but the first few rows I need clarification on it. I just decided to add in the stitches that I missed to make it equal what pattern says and its just not right the ridges are not even. I am fb around bp and bp around fp making it look funky. Thanks D

  19. ok I had a MAJOR error. I just corrected it. there is an extra (1 fpdc, 1 bpdc). That should fix it.

  31. how many rows did you add on to have the slouch effect?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Kaneesha: I don't understand your question. I posted the pattern.

  33. im sorry for the confusion: if you exclude the "Note" after Round 5 will you end up with the slouch hat? If not, how many rows of the Note pattern do you need? I really hope this makes since now. Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  34. if you skip the note you will still end up with the slouch hat. The note just makes it bigger around. :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. i'd use the note if i wanted more hat. got it. thanks :))

    ReplyDelete
  36. yep ;) Glad you got it now :)Have fun.

  38. Hi April,

I saw this hat in Etsy, too bad the pattern is for sale. :(. Is it okay for you if I made one based on this hat? (As of now, I can't afford to buy the pattern.). You are a very good designer. Hope to hear from you soon.
