Oh what a summer it has been this year. I hope you all had a wonderful time :)
Here is my newest creation. This year I was considering dressing up as a witch for Halloween. I was looking at what other people came up with for witch hats and I decided I really didn't want to take the classic route. The points are too long and the brim is too wide. I wanted to be able to wear it more than just Halloween. So I decided to make the top and brim shorter. This is what I came up with. I named it Earthy Witch Hat because it reminded me of bark on a tree. I can't wait to wear it hiking :) It will keep the flies away from my head and help protect against the sun :) My dad kinda gave me inspiration for this hat too. When I was little we would go on walks in the woods and he would let me wear his hat. (that is one of the fondest memories I have of him) It was a men's hat but the brim was perfect. Not too big not too small. That is kinda what I wanted to achieve with this.
What do you think?
If you want the pattern it is available for $3 in my Etsy Shop
You can fold up the brim if you like :)
For those of you who don't know how to do cables here is A link to a video someone made that should help :)
it's wonderful ^^!
ReplyDeleteAwesome. Love it. )O(
ReplyDeleteI reckon that hat's cool.
ReplyDeleteHi April, I sent an email last week but havent heard back from you -- is the address I already have still current where I sent the green Bella mittens? The other dark brown pair is FINALLY done. Sorry for the long wait, at least it's a November release date again this year!
ReplyDeletethat's one handsome looking hat!
ReplyDeleteon a somewhat unrelated topic, I finally posted a picture of my jack skellington to my facebook. Instead of keeping a blog [for now] i just post my crochet stuff to a facebook album and do little write-ups on them in the captions...or in jack's case....big write-ups. :)
here's a public link to the album if you are interested:

Hey there, OMG I love this hat, do you plan to do a pattern? I'd love it Lou x
ReplyDeleteThis hat is a great interpretation of the older style witch hat! It feels kind of druidish. So nice to see more of your creative genius!
ReplyDeleteI absolutley ADORE all of your patterns April. This question is really off topic but I've been wanting to ask you for a while now: Have you ever considered having a book of your patterns published? I feel like it would be a big hit. I know I would totally buy it! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Everyone! Sorry I haven't responded. My life has been pretty hectic lately so I have been dealing with that (I have been really depressed so I haven't felt like talking to anyone. I'm sure you all can understand and have felt like that too)
ReplyDeleteMandie: yep, everything is the same. I thought you forgot about me :)
Howie: Wow you weren't kidding about a long story lol. Neat story :) He turned out great.
shackrats: Thanks. Yes I was thinking about publishing a book but most publishing companies only want 1 pattern here and there unfortunately. One day I will have a book though. That is my dream :)
